Loop Take Up Unit

Australia’s largest privately owned supplier of integrated electro-mechanical bulk material handling solutions, complete longwall mining systems and associated products & services for underground and surface mining applications – NEPEAN Mining is very excited about recent indications of continued success in upholding the values and commitment to best practice and leadership in the area of safety.

The company now has 10 facilities in Australia including four in NSW, three in QLD, one each in WA and South Africa and a Supply Chain office in China.

The largest manufacturing facility which is operated by NEPEAN Conveyors (NSW) is located in the Illawarra region of NSW, right on the back doorstep of BHP Illawarra Coal’s mining operations. The 6,000sqm site employs approximately 80 people who collectively have achieved an outstanding 4 year; 650,000 man hours without a Lost Time Injury (LTI) on 23 January 2014. This accomplishment follows intense team efforts to achieve zero harm.

Managing Director of NEPEAN Mining Mr Rolf Van Rooyen comments, “I believe the key to our success is everyone in our organisation understanding that they have a role to play in sustaining a zero harm environment. This milestone is a significant achievement and this is something that many companies aim for, but few achieve.”

“Safety involves continual focus on identifying and controlling hazards, reducing exposure to health and safety risks, and supporting the general health and well-being of our team members through positive education initiatives that help in preventing risky behaviour. It is an honest pleasure and a privilege to work with the dedicated employees at NEPEAN Conveyors (NSW) and I look forward to continuing our collaborative safety approach.”
