NEPEAN recently completed the design and construction of a 1500tph Stockpiling system including design responsibility for all bulk earthworks, road way design (pavement specification by others), site drainage, and civil, electrical and mechanical plant. Full civil, electrical and mechanical installation and commissioning and performance guarantee testing.

With existing operations approved for staged increase from 1.5MTPA to 6MTPA over next 5 years, an alternative stockpiling method to the current dozer operation was required. Nepean were engaged to provide a design and cost proposal, and worked with the client to develop a tender specification. Upon approval of design, client engaged Nepean to proceed with fixed price turnkey design and construct contract.

Nepean developed an innovative passive emission control measure at the unloading bins, which are also supplemented by misting sprays designed to provide the finest droplet size possible without clogging. Use of compressed air was excluded, as this has proven to be maintenance intensive at the existing crushing facility.

All of this was achieved whilst maintaining a live operating facility without disruption to train loading schedules. Performance guarantee tests were conducted pre and post commissioning, with further testing to be undertaken immediately prior end of defects liability period.
