Celebrating a New Chapter at NEPEAN Power
Sydney, Australia – 18 September 2025– NEPEAN Power, a leading provider in electrical engineering and power solutions, is proud to announce a significant milestone in its journey. After more than three decades of leadership, founder Geoff Sweeney, together with his wife Kym, has sold their 30% ownership of the business to Miles Fuller, CEO and owner of NEPEAN.
This change is both a transition of ownership and a celebration of the legacy built since August 1994, when Geoff established the company as MI Power Pty Ltd. From its early days of focusing on overhaul projects, Geoff led the business through steady growth and diversification into new manufacturing. In 2003 NEPEAN acquired a 70% stake, forming a partnership that reshaped the business into the NEPEAN Power we know today, generating close to $100 million in turnover and supporting more than 200 employees.
A Natural Next Step
The decision comes as Geoff prepares for retirement, choosing to focus on family after more than 31 years of dedicated leadership. Over the past year, Geoff has already shifted into an advisory role, ensuring a smooth transition and strong continuity in the company’s operations.
“NEPEAN supported MI Power and allowed it to run autonomously, giving it the freedom to grow into the successful business we know today as NEPEAN Power,” said Geoff. “The journey has been one of true partnership with Miles and the NEPEAN team.” During his tenure, Geoff helped lead industry-defining innovations. A standout achievement was the introduction of VVVF drives to the underground coal industry in collaboration with NEPEAN Conveyors, a development that reshaped industry standards.
